The Danish king Hrothgar (Stellan Skarsgard) has a problem that needs to be resolved, urgently and recruits the famed Geatish warrior, Beowulf (Gerard Butler) to battle the vengeful son, Grendel (Ingvar E. Sigurdsson) of a slaughtered troll.
Beowulf’s willingness to kill on behalf of Hrothgar wavers when it becomes clear that the King is more responsible for the troll’s rampages than was first apparent. This tale of blood and revenge is a new take on the Old English legend.
