Mordhau Historical Combat is hosting another MordMini tournament in preparation for SoCal SwordFight. Competitors do not need to be competing at SoCal SwordFight to participate in the MordMini, but it is strongly recommended for those who are planning to go. Open to all skill levels, including beginners and experienced fighters, and open to all HEMA schools. See notes below for expectations and goals.
Date: Saturday, Feb 4th, 2023
Time: 11:00am registration/check-in, 12:00pm first pool (it ends when it ends, it is advised to have an open schedule for the day)
Location: Mordhau Historical Combat (2909 S Dobson, Mesa, 85202)
Cost: $10 for Mordhau Members, $15 for non-members (payment will be collected at the door upon check-in). Spectators are free to watch, but a $5 optional donation or donation of a case of water bottles would be appreciated, though certainly not required.
Requirements:
– Minimum Rank 1 achieved for Mordhau members, no limitations on non-members but we strongly recommend non-members to speak to their instructors to determine if this is a good fit.
– 18+ age
– Non-Mordhau competitors will need to have full steel longsword kit per SoCal SwordFight 2023 requirements. Mordhau will not be loaning equipment to non-members for this tournament. Mordhau members bay borrow equipment to participate but we cannot guarantee its availability.
-Gear requirements will follow SoCal Swordfight requirements for Open Steel Longsword outlined on
www.socalswordfight.com…
-Capacity limited to 30 competitors
-This will be an open steel tournament where competitors of all skill levels may participate. We ask that any advanced level competitors use discretion when fighting inexperienced competitors and consider using this as an opportunity to provide tournament experience to newer competitors.
-We do not want to incentivize going all out for this tournament; therefore we will not be awarding medals or large prizes (fun prizes will be awarded), results will not be submitted to HEMAratings.
-This is a preparatory tournament to help strengthen and build the HEMA community in Arizona. Please keep it friendly
-We want to prepare new competitors for larger tournaments by helping them break the ice while also helping experienced
competitors knock off some rust before going out to compete.
-Light snacks and water will be provided
